The following report, “Selling In The Sky: The Onboard Retail Potential” is the culmination of our in-depth studies and analysis of the onboard retail potential for the airline industry for nearly a decade.

As the first in our Benchmark Series, the 2011 Onboard Retail Benchmark aims to showcase the mindset of consumers in terms of what they are willing to spend money on during a flight, and in a volatile economic climate that has deeply impacted airline operations across the globe. This examination of in-flight sales within the North America region during the first half of 2010 is not only the starting point for understanding passengers’ purchasing habits, it also provides an opportunity for airlines to evaluate their onboard retail performance against the overall mean with the goal of improving onboard retail operations and maximizing sales opportunities.
